What DPI describes
DPI describes sensor resolution: how many movement counts are reported over a given physical distance. Amalight’s PAW3395 is specified for up to 26,000 DPI. That maximum describes the adjustment range, not the setting everyone should use. Choose a setting that suits comfortable hand travel and your game’s sensitivity.
How to check mouse DPI
Start with the manufacturer’s software and check your selected profile and active DPI stage. For Amalight 4K, use XStation. If you switch between stages, note the current one before comparing. The number on the box is the sensor’s maximum range, not your selected setting. Windows pointer speed and the feel of cursor movement do not reveal active DPI on their own.
CS2 eDPI calculator
eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. Enter both values below: for example, 800 × 1.25 = 1000. This calculates your inputs; it does not measure the sensor. To preserve eDPI when changing DPI, divide your old eDPI by the new DPI. At 1000 eDPI and 1600 DPI, sensitivity would be 0.625. This example is not a universal best sensitivity.
Compare eDPI within the same game. Calculated from your inputs.
Why eDPI does not transfer between games
Games can interpret their sensitivity multiplier differently. The same DPI × sensitivity product in two games may therefore produce different movement. For a practical comparison, measure the centimetres of mouse travel needed for a full character rotation. Keep conditions consistent and account for aiming sensitivity too.
Change one setting at a time
Save your usual settings first. If you change DPI, adjust sensitivity in the game and try a familiar exercise. Do not change DPI, polling rate, aiming settings and resolution all at once: you will not know what changed the feel. Several consistent sessions tell you more than one successful movement.
Compare settings in XYDER AIM
Try identical short micro-adjustment rounds with two settings. Compare accuracy, miss positions and the time from target appearance to a hit. Keep mode, difficulty, duration, arena size and input method the same. The browser warm-up compares your own control; it does not read sensor DPI or reproduce CS2 sensitivity. Confirm the final setting in your game.
Open XYDER AIMProfiles in XStation
XStation lets you change DPI, assign buttons and save profiles. Create a separate comparison profile so you can restore your original settings. Find the installer in Downloads. Check features and appearance in the software version you actually install.
Download XStationWhat does the DPI button do?
If your model has a DPI button, it may select a stage or cycle through several stages. Its action depends on the model and button assignment. After pressing it, check the active value in the manufacturer’s software. Cursor speed alone is not enough because system settings affect it too. For Amalight, check the XStation profile.
DPI, Windows and screen resolution
The Windows pointer-speed slider does not show sensor DPI. Monitor resolution does not identify it either: there is no single required DPI for 2560 × 1440. Use the mouse software for sensor settings and CS2 settings for in-game sensitivity. Keep arena size, DPI and system pointer speed consistent when comparing XYDER AIM rounds.
